Eisenhower Alaska Statehood Monument
Alaska and Hawaii became the 49th and 50th states in 1959 during the Eisenhower Administration. Most Alaskans eagerly sought statehood as it would bring U.S. federal funding to build infrastructure and increase commerce. The Eisenhower Alaska Statehood Monument was built in downtown Anchorage along North C Street (I think) in President Eisenhower's honor.
