The Snows Will Come So Deep

The snows came so deep,
And the world drudged to a halt.
The troughs and the valleys we made that day!
Everything I knew in my world stopped and stood
     around
To watch a boy delight in his snow.
                ~
I knew so little then,
Being so young.
I thought I ran the world!
                ~
Now the world has forgotten me,
It listens to the calls of others.
"Great Leaders!" they say.
"Great Egos!" I say.
                ~
They no more run the world
Than I ran the snow so long ago.
